Visitor's visa
Visitor's visa is issued by Utlendingsdirektoratet (UDI). VisaAI tracks 14 official requirements for it, each traced to the government page that states it.

VisaAI is not a government body and does not issue visas. It cannot decide, predict or guarantee the outcome of an application, and this page is not legal or immigration advice.
Requirements change. Confirm every item on Utlendingsdirektoratet (UDI)’s own page before you apply.
Conditions you must meet
- Up to 90 days, valid for entry to all Schengen countries
- Passport valid at least 3 months after your visit, issued within the last 10 years
- Enough money to finance your stay and return journey
- Guideline minimums: NOK 300/day with paid accommodation, NOK 1,300/day withoutUDI calls these GUIDELINES and says sufficiency is assessed individually, so they are guidance rather than a hard threshold. The typo 'sufficent' is UDI's own and is preserved — the excerpt is a quote, not a correction.
- Not be subject to a prohibition against entry to Norway or Schengen
- Check your remaining Schengen days if you have been in the area in the last 90 daysNo rule: VisaAI holds no record of prior Schengen days, and gating on a fact we do not have would hide the check from the person who needs it.
- Applicants under 18 need both parents or guardians to sign the application
- UDI assesses how likely you are to return home; weak ties normally mean refusalRecorded so the assessment is visible rather than a surprise. A decision criterion, not a document, and stated as 'normally' rather than automatic.
Documents you must provide
- All documents on the embassy's checklistThe list is per-embassy and behind a country selector, so UDI publishes no single list. The obligation is the requirement; its contents are not extractable from this page.
- Valid travel insurance
- A financial guarantee via a sponsorship form, only if you lack sufficient funds yourselfConditional on the applicant's own funds against an individually-judged standard VisaAI cannot assess, so no rule is attached.
- An invitation from the person you are visiting
Steps in the process
- Register your fingerprints
Government fees
- Pay an application feeNo amount recorded: UDI states the obligation here but publishes the figure elsewhere, and that page is not a registered source.
